Pittsburgh Steelers Stun NFL with Last-Second Roster Shake-Up Ahead of Crucial Saints Clash

PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Steelers have made history, squaring off with the New Orleans Saints in the NFL’s first-ever regular-season game on French soil at Paris’ iconic Stade de France. Aaron Rodgers guided Pittsburgh to an early 3-0 edge on the opening drive, leaning on Jaylen Warren’s ground game before Chris Boswell split the uprights from 29 yards. Game details and atmosphere • Kickoff: Sunday, Oct. 25, 2026, 9:30 a.m. ET (3:30 p.m. local). • Venue: Stade de France, Saint-Denis. • Attendance: 77,000-plus, with Terrible Towels twirling beside fleur-de-lis flags in a sold-out crowd. • National anthem: A brass-heavy rendition from New Orleans’ own The Soul Rebels set a festive tone. Key storylines 1. Rodgers’ European debut • The 42-year-old quarterback entered Week 7 on a four-game multi-TD streak and sits 11th league-wide in passing yards per game. Early precision passing fed rookie breakout Germie Bernard, who posted 11 catches for 87 yards and a score last week and remains a must-start fantasy WR2. 2. Ground game shake-up • Offensive coordinator Pat Meyer handed Warren the RB1 reins again after Najee Harris’ mid-season release, and the second-year back reeled off chunk gains to ignite the opening series. Rico Dowdle spells Warren in goal-line sets, preserving his fantasy floor. 3. Historic backdrop & security • The NFL confirmed it “never came close” to relocating despite recent civil unrest; French officials imposed targeted curfews, and U.S. State Department liaisons coordinated enhanced stadium security. Injury report and inactives • Steelers: WR Ben Skowronek, QB Drew Allar, QB Will Howard, CB Brandin Echols, RB Eli Heidenreich, CB Terell Smith. • Saints: TE Treyton Welch, S Mike Reid, EDGE Tyree Wilson, DL Nathan Shepherd, DL John Ridgeway, G Cesar Ruiz, QB Zach Wilson. Betting snapshot • Spread: Steelers -3 • Moneyline: PIT -172 / NO +144 • Total: 44.5 points (O/U) Fantasy football takeaway Pittsburgh’s surge in Pass Rate Over Expectation (+4.9%, 2nd in NFL) and top-10 pass-protection metrics continue to buoy Rodgers, Bernard and tight end Pat Freiermuth. With Warren monopolizing early-down work and Dowdle a touchdown vulture, both backs carry flex appeal in deeper leagues. What’s next The Steelers fly home to host the AFC-leading Kansas City Chiefs on short rest in Week 8, while the Saints remain in Europe to meet the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley.
