Last Chance Today to Claim Cash from Dollar General’s $8.5M Settlement

dollar general settlement
Consumers across the United States have only hours left to claim their share of Dollar General’s $8.5 million class-action settlement stemming from allegations that shelf prices at the discount chain rang up higher at the register. Why the settlement matters Shoppers and state inspectors accused Dollar General of charging more than the price displayed on store shelves between Oct. 10 2016 and Nov. 19 2025, allegedly failing more than 40 percent of pricing inspections in that period. Dollar General denies wrongdoing but agreed to pay to resolve the lawsuit. Key deadlines and payout details • Claim-filing deadline: 11:59 p.m. ET on Monday, April 13 2026. • Cash payment: $10 or the documented amount of any overcharge, whichever is higher, with a cap of two claims per household. • Extra benefit: every eligible class member can also request a one-time $3 in-store discount on a purchase of $10 or more, redeemable nationwide June 1-2 2026, no proof of overcharge required. Who qualifies Anyone who paid more at checkout than the shelf tag showed at a Dollar General store during the class period may file. Shoppers who previously complained to Dollar General or a government agency—and can document that complaint—or who can upload a dated receipt and shelf-price photo are eligible for the cash payout. Others without proof can still secure the $3 coupon. How to file fast 1. Go to dgpricesettlement.com and select “Submit Claim.” 2. Enter your Notice ID and confirmation code (if you received one) or choose the form without a code. 3. Upload documentation if you are alleging an overcharge. 4. Pick either the digital payment options listed or request a mailed check. What happens next The court will hold a final approval hearing on May 20 2026. Payments and coupon instructions are expected to be distributed in early summer, after any appeals conclude. Unclaimed funds will revert to charity and administrative costs, not to Dollar General. Bottom line for shoppers If you bought even a single item at Dollar General in the past nine years and suspect you overpaid, filing the straightforward online claim could secure you an immediate $10 payout—and at minimum, every class member can lock in the $3 discount for early June. Submit before midnight to avoid missing out on money that is already set aside for customers.
