YouTube TV Unveils a Game-Changing Update—What Every Cord-Cutter Needs to Know
• Hot Trendy News
Cord-cutters have yet another reason to take a fresh look at YouTube TV. The live-streaming platform is rolling out a buffet of new genre-based plans that shave as much as $28 off the main $82.99 package while keeping hallmark features like unlimited cloud DVR and six household profiles.
Sports fans get the biggest early win. The new Sports Plan costs $64.99 a month ($54.99 for year-one newcomers) and bundles every major broadcast network with staples such as ESPN, FS1 and NBC Sports Network. Kick in seven extra dollars and the Sports + News tier adds CNN, CNBC, Fox News, Bloomberg and other 24-hour newsrooms, making it a one-stop shop for game days and breaking headlines. Movie lovers aren’t left out either: the Entertainment Plan drops to $54.99 ($44.99 introductory) and folds in FX, Bravo, Hallmark, Food Network and more, while a News + Entertainment + Family bundle ($69.99) layers in kid favorites like Disney Channel and PBS Kids. All plans can still bolt on premium add-ons—HBO Max, 4K Plus and NFL RedZone among them—for even deeper customization.
NFL Sunday Ticket stays à la carte but is finally more flexible. New subscribers can snag the full out-of-market slate for a one-time $240 payment or 12 monthly installments of $20, and they can attach it to either the main plan or any of the new discounted bundles.
YouTube TV is also doubling down on its multitasking chops. An upgraded multiview interface now lets viewers mix and match up to four live channels on a single screen, perfect for juggling simultaneous NFL games, news briefings or playoff double-headers without channel-flipping.
Why this matters: traditional cable prices have climbed north of $100 a month in many markets, and rival streamers like Fubo and Hulu + Live TV sit in the $76–$90 range before add-ons. By unbundling sports, news and entertainment into lower-cost tracks, YouTube TV is betting that price-sensitive households will see a clearer path to cutting the cord—especially with marquee football rights, 4K feeds and unlimited DVR already in its arsenal.
Availability & sign-up: The new plans are rolling out nationwide this week. Existing subscribers can switch within the settings menu, while new users can start a free trial and lock in launch discounts for up to 12 months.
