KANSAS CITY—The New York Yankees turned Kauffman Stadium into a launch pad Tuesday night, belting six home runs and racking up 24 hits in a 15-1 demolition of the Kansas City Royals. Every starter collected at least two hits—the first time that has happened in franchise history—and the Bronx Bombers extended their winning streak over Kansas City to 12 games. Cody Bellinger opened the onslaught with a 387-foot blast in the first inning, and Anthony Volpe followed with a 409-footer in the second. Amed Rosario went deep twice, while Trent Grisham and Jazz Chisholm Jr. each added late long balls. The barrage backed rookie right-hander Cam Schlittler, who improved to 7-2 with six strong innings of one-run ball, trimming his ERA to 1.50. Bobby Witt Jr. supplied the lone Royals highlight with a solo homer in the third. Kansas City starter Bailey Falter lasted only 2⅓ innings, surrendering seven runs on nine hits. The Royals have dropped six of their last seven and sit 9½ games back in the AL Central. New York (33-22) remains 2½ games behind Tampa Bay in the AL East but has won eight of nine while averaging 7.2 runs per game. Aaron Judge, who doubled and walked twice, now owns an MLB-best 1.047 OPS in May. The series wraps Wednesday night, with left-hander Carlos Rodón facing Royals righty Alec Marsh. A win would give the Yankees their fourth consecutive series sweep and further solidify baseball’s hottest offense heading into a weekend showdown with the Rays.
