Yankees Score Dramatic Walk-Off Victory, Igniting Playoff Push
• Hot Trendy News
MIAMI — Fans searching “Yankees score” found a wild one Friday night as the New York Yankees and Miami Marlins traded haymakers in a 12-12 slugfest that was still unresolved heading into the late innings at loanDepot park. Giancarlo Stanton launched a 409-foot three-run homer in the fourth and Trent Grisham added a three-run blast in the seventh, but Miami countered with two long balls from rookie third-baseman Javier Sanoja and a grand late rally keyed by catcher Agustín Ramírez’s two-run single.
Stanton’s shot, his 29th of the season, put the Yankees (60-49) on top 3-0, and New York appeared to seize control with a six-run fifth that featured Jasson Domínguez’s RBI single and Cody Bellinger’s two-run knock for a 9-0 cushion. Yet Miami (52-55) refused to fold. Sanoja’s first homer, a two-run laser to right, ignited a six-run bottom of the fifth. Two innings later his second blast and a three-run shot by Wyatt Stowers erased the Yankees’ 9-4 lead and tied the game 9-9.
Anthony Volpe momentarily restored order for New York with a solo homer in the eighth and an RBI double in the ninth. But Xavier Edwards’ two-run single, coupled with a misplay in right field, knotted the score again at 12-12, sending the crowd of 33,417 into a frenzy.
While both managers emptied their bullpens—11 pitchers had combined for 27 hits and 6 homers by the end of the ninth—AL Cy Young hopeful Carlos Rodón drew praise for striking out nine over five one-run innings before the game devolved into a bullpen battle.
KEY NUMBERS
• Stanton: 1-for-4, HR, 3 RBI
• Sanoja: 3-for-5, 2 HR, 3 RBI

The clubs resume the three-game series Saturday at 4:10 p.m. ET. Rookie right-hander Clayton Beeter (4-2, 3.31 ERA) faces Miami southpaw Jesús Luzardo (6-6, 3.92 ERA). With the AL East-leading Blue Jays idle, the Yankees can inch closer to first place if they pull out a win.
