URGENT Tornado Warning LIVE: Real-Time Path Tracker, County Impact List & Essential Safety Tips
• Hot Trendy News
Residents across the lower Ohio Valley awoke to a fresh round of tornado warnings this morning as an energized storm complex swept east from the Mississippi River overnight. According to the National Weather Service, eight separate tornado warning polygons were still active at 4:50 a.m. EDT, impacting portions of Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio and placing more than 110,000 people under the highest-level alert for tornadic activity.
The most urgent alerts included Bartholomew, Brown and Jackson counties in south-central Indiana, where radar indicated rotation racing east at up to 55 mph. Farther south, Boone and Campbell counties in northern Kentucky were tagged as the same parent storm crossed the Ohio River. On the Buckeye side, Butler, Montgomery and Ashland counties were among several Ohio jurisdictions warned after midnight as storms accelerated toward Interstate 71. Emergency managers reported frequent cloud-to-ground lightning and isolated wind damage near Oxford, OH, but no immediate confirmations of tornado touchdowns.
Today’s volatile setup stems from a sharpening cold front colliding with 74–78 °F dew-points pooled along a stalled boundary. The NOAA Storm Prediction Center maintains a 5 % tornado probability corridor from eastern Missouri through central Ohio, highlighting a continued risk for brief but fast-moving twisters through the evening hours. Embedded supercells within a broader squall line will be capable of producing tornadoes with little lead time; some may remain wrapped in rain and difficult to spot until right overhead.
If a tornado warning is issued for your location, act immediately: move to a basement or a small interior room on the lowest floor, cover your head and avoid windows. Mobile-home residents should relocate to a sturdy shelter well before storms arrive. Motorists caught on the road are advised to exit highways and seek substantial buildings rather than attempting to outrun a tornado.
You can monitor real-time tornado warning polygons and radar imagery on the Tornado Tracker interactive map, which updates every 60 seconds with official NWS data. Enable wireless emergency alerts on smartphones, and consider a NOAA Weather Radio with battery backup to stay informed during power outages.
While this morning’s warnings will gradually expire as storms march east, forecasters caution that additional rounds of severe weather may redevelop along the same boundary this afternoon and evening. Stay weather-aware, review your safety plan now and share alert information with friends and family—especially those living in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio where conditions remain primed for rapid tornado development.
