Thomas Frank Sack Looms: Tottenham Board Holds Emergency Talks After West Ham Humiliation
• Hot Trendy News
Tottenham Hotspur head coach Thomas Frank is clinging to his job after Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to West Ham United plunged Spurs deeper into crisis and provoked chants of “sacked in the morning” from furious supporters at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The loss leaves Tottenham with just two wins in their last eleven Premier League home matches and marooned in 14th place, their worst mid-season standing in more than a decade.
Frank, who swapped Brentford for Spurs only seven months ago, admitted his side are “in the perfect storm” yet vowed to fight on. “I’m the man in charge, so the blame will go to me. That’s fair,” he told reporters, urging fans to keep backing the players.
However, patience inside the boardroom appears to be evaporating. Senior executives met on Sunday to discuss whether the Dane’s position has become untenable, with sources indicating that former favourite Mauricio Pochettino is open to a sensational return if an interim solution is needed until summer.
Tottenham invested in January with Frank’s input, recruiting defender Joaquín Pérez and striker Gift Orban, but results have nosedived. The West Ham defeat epitomised Spurs’ season: conceding early, rallying through a Cristian Romero header, then collapsing to a late Callum Wilson strike that was greeted by a chorus of boos.
Compounding the turmoil, Frank revealed that his starting XI had been leaked on social media 24 hours before kick-off, calling the breach “not optimal” in an already toxic atmosphere. The timing could not be worse; Borussia Dortmund visit north London on Tuesday in a Champions League tie that may determine both Tottenham’s continental ambitions and Frank’s future.
Pochettino, currently leading the United States national team, is said to be monitoring events closely. The Argentine enjoyed a five-year spell in north London, guiding Spurs to their first Champions League final in 2019, and still retains widespread support among fans and key figures at the club.
Should Spurs act swiftly, the international break that follows next weekend would offer a limited window to reset the season. For now, Frank’s survival hinges on producing an immediate upturn—starting with Dortmund. Anything less, and the “perfect storm” threatening his tenure could finally engulf him.
