Royal Caribbean Port Cancellations: Latest Itinerary Changes & What Passengers Need to Know
• Hot Trendy News
Royal Caribbean has extended its wave of itinerary changes, confirming the cancellation of all remaining calls to Labadee, Haiti through at least October 2025 amid escalating security concerns in the region. Passengers booked on affected sailings received notification this week that the line’s signature private destination—traditionally a marquee stop on Eastern Caribbean itineraries—has been dropped and replaced with alternate ports such as Falmouth, Jamaica; Perfect Day at CocoCay, Bahamas; and sea days designed to maintain schedule integrity.
According to Royal Caribbean’s latest travel-update bulletin, five ships—Adventure of the Seas, Independence of the Seas, Liberty of the Seas, Oasis of the Seas and Wonder of the Seas—were slated to call at Labadee between August and October. Each visit has now been scrubbed, bringing the total number of Labadee cancellations in 2025 to more than two dozen.
WHY LABADEE IS OFF-LIMITS
Labadee sits on Haiti’s north coast, far from the nation’s political epicenter, but Royal Caribbean executives say the current security environment—including gang violence around key transit corridors—poses unacceptable operational risks. The cruise line emphasized that guest safety “always comes first,” noting that itinerary adjustments can be made at any time under the company’s ticket contract.
IMPACTED VOYAGES AND COMPENSATION
Guests will automatically receive updated itineraries in their online cruise documents and mobile app. While cruise-fare refunds are not offered for a single port swap, the line is refunding any pre-paid Labadee shore excursions and cabana rentals back to the original form of payment. Onboard credits have also been issued on certain sailings as a goodwill gesture.
ALTERNATIVE PORT HIGHLIGHTS
• Perfect Day at CocoCay: Royal Caribbean’s flagship private island offers record-breaking water slides, an enormous freshwater lagoon and new adults-only Hideaway Beach.
• Falmouth, Jamaica: Ships docking here enable easy access to Dunn’s River Falls, rafting on the Martha Brae and day trips to Montego Bay.
• Extended Sea Days: Entertainment teams are doubling up on headliner shows, trivia and culinary demonstrations to fill the extra time onboard.
WHAT TRAVELERS SHOULD DO NOW
1. Re-download cruise documents to verify port times.
2. Check the Cruise Planner for newly added shore excursions at the replacement destinations.
3. Verify independent tour reservations; many third-party vendors offer refunds only within specified windows.
4. Monitor Royal Caribbean’s Travel Updates page for additional changes, especially during hurricane season when weather-related diversions are common.
LOOKING AHEAD
Royal Caribbean says it continues to evaluate conditions in Haiti “week by week.” If security improves, Labadee could re-enter itineraries later in the year, but planners are already finalizing winter schedules without the stop. Cruisers booked for late-2025 voyages should expect further communication 30-45 days before sailing.
With peak Caribbean season approaching, the latest wave of Royal Caribbean port cancellations is a timely reminder that flexibility remains a traveler’s best friend—along with diligent monitoring of official cruise-line channels for real-time updates.
