Rowdy Tellez’s 470-Foot Home Run Stuns MLB—Watch the Video, Key Stats & Impact on Brewers’ Playoff Push

Rowdy Tellez is headed back to the big leagues, and the Texas Rangers hope the veteran slugger can jolt an offense that finished the first half ranked 13th in the American League in OPS.
Texas officially selected the 30-year-old’s contract from Triple-A Round Rock on Friday, 18 July, before opening a three-game set against the Detroit Tigers. Tellez wasted no time making an impact; in Saturday’s 9-4 win he rifled a 109 mph line-drive homer to right-center, his 12th of 2025 across two levels.
The Rangers signed Tellez to a minor-league deal on 5 July, less than a week after Seattle designated him for assignment in a roster shuffle that favored positional versatility. At Round Rock he slashed .319/.386/.597 with four homers in eight games, convincing general manager Chris Young to add a left-handed power bat to a lineup missing injured first baseman Nathaniel Lowe.
Manager Bruce Bochy plans to deploy Tellez primarily at first base while mixing Adolis García and Wyatt Langford in the designated-hitter slot. “We need thump from the left side,” Bochy said before Friday’s game. “Rowdy’s track record shows he can change a game with one swing.”
That track record includes a 35-homer breakout with Milwaukee in 2022 and double-digit long balls in every season since 2019. Even during a rough 62-game stint with the Mariners this year, Tellez maintained elite hard-hit metrics (46 percent) that suggest positive regression.
Texas enters the second half two games behind Houston in the AL West and 1.5 back in the Wild Card race. If Tellez provides the same spark he did in his Rangers debut, the defending champs could quickly close that gap.
Fantasy impact: Tellez’s pull-heavy power and hitter-friendly Globe Life Field make him a priority add in leagues that value home runs and RBI. DFS players should monitor his platoon splits—he owns an .820 OPS vs right-handers in his career.
Key details
• Contract purchased: 18 July 2025 (Triple-A Round Rock → MLB)
• 2025 minor-league line: 8 G, .319 AVG, 4 HR, 1.0 OPS
• 2025 MLB line (SEA): 62 G, .211 AVG, 8 HR
• Career: 121 HR, .238/.303/.452 slash in 731 G
What’s next
The Rangers continue their homestand with two more against Detroit, who sends right-hander Jack Flaherty to the mound Sunday—another favorable matchup for Tellez’s left-handed power stroke.
