Philadelphia Eagles Land All-Pro Corner in Deadline Shocker—Super Bowl Odds Soar

London—The Philadelphia Eagles’ first international matchup of the 2026 NFL season arrives Sunday as they meet the surging Jacksonville Jaguars at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a clash that carries early-season playoff implications with the Eagles sitting at 2-2 and the Jaguars at 3-1. Head coach Nick Sirianni’s squad touched down in the U.K. on Friday and held a light walkthrough aimed at combating jet-lag, while quarterback Jalen Hurts told reporters the trip is “a business mission” as he looks to rebound from a two-interception outing in Los Angeles last week. Offensive coordinator Brian Johnson hinted that Hurts will lean heavily on wideouts A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith against a Jacksonville secondary that ranks 28th against passes of 20+ yards. The biggest lineup question surrounds veteran right tackle Lane Johnson, who missed practice with knee soreness but is officially listed as questionable. If Johnson can’t go, second-year lineman Tyler Steen is expected to start, a scenario that would put even more pressure on Philadelphia’s quick-release screen game. On defense, rookie edge rusher Nolan Smith is slated for an expanded snap count opposite Haason Reddick as the Eagles seek to generate pressure on Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who has been sacked just six times all season. Beyond the X’s and O’s, the London backdrop adds marketing gold for the franchise. The Eagles are staging fan rallies in Piccadilly Circus and partnering with Tottenham’s retail arm to launch limited-edition merchandise featuring the club’s classic Kelly Green palette—an apparel drop that sold out online within an hour, according to team officials. For viewers stateside, kickoff is set for 9:30 a.m. ET, and the NFL has authorized multiple free-streaming options in addition to the ABC national broadcast, reflecting the league’s push to globalize the game. Analysts project that the early-window exclusivity could yield one of the highest streaming audiences of the fall, especially with no competing college football slate. Key storylines fans will track: • Hurts vs. Lawrence: two MVP-caliber quarterbacks on an international stage. • The Eagles’ run-pass balance: RB D’Andre Swift is averaging 4.9 yards per carry but logged only 12 rushes last week. • Turnover battle: Philadelphia is –4 on the season; Jacksonville leads the AFC in takeaways. • Special-teams spotlight: rookie Britain Covey ranks third in punt-return average and could tilt field position on Tottenham’s narrow pitch. Prediction: If Johnson suits up, the Eagles’ offensive line depth should stabilize and allow Hurts enough time to exploit mismatches downfield. Expect a one-score game, with Philadelphia escaping 27-23 to regain momentum before returning home to face Washington.
