Packers vs Panthers Tonight: Live Score, Injury Reports & Betting Odds for Week 8 Prime-Time Clash

A short week offers the Green Bay Packers a chance to erase the sting of their 20-17 loss to the Detroit Lions and regain momentum tonight against the Carolina Panthers at Lambeau Field. At 4-3, Matt LaFleur’s team remains firmly in the NFC North hunt, but consistency has been elusive during a start-stop October stretch. Health is once again the headline. The offensive line will be without starting center Sean Rhyan (ankle) and left guard Travis Glover (knee), forcing backup John Williams to handle the snaps while veterans Aaron Banks and Kevin Zeitler rotate at guard. The secondary took a late hit when slot corner Keisean Nixon (shoulder) landed on the injury report and is listed as questionable. If Nixon can’t go, rookie Carl Johnson will be tested by Carolina’s three-receiver looks. All eyes, though, are on a stagnant ground game that averages just 2.9 yards per carry even after Josh Jacobs’ return from a hamstring strain. The matchup sets up favorably: the Panthers surrender an NFL-worst 153.2 rushing yards per game and 5.2 yards a tote. Expect LaFleur to script early gap-scheme runs behind right tackle Zach Tom to help Jordan Love stay ahead of the chains and open up play-action shots to Christian Watson and rookie wideout Matthew Golden, who draws more defensive flags (six pass-interference calls) than any receiver in the league. Love’s chemistry with young tight end Tucker Kraft is also blossoming; the duo connected for a 12-yard touchdown on their first red-zone opportunity last week. Against a Carolina defense that ranks 31st in opponent passer rating inside the 20, Kraft could again be a featured target on seam routes. Defensively, coordinator Joe Barry is dialing up creative pressures for edge rushers Lukas Van Ness and Rashan Gary, who face a Panthers line that allowed five sacks in a 43-13 drubbing by Tampa Bay. Rookie quarterback Bryce Young has thrown seven interceptions under duress this season, and capitalizing on that vulnerability could flip field position for a special-teams unit still breaking in rookie kicker Trey Smack. The bigger picture looms large: with road tests at New England and the Rams bookending a Week 11 bye, the Packers cannot afford another prime-time slip. A victory pushes Green Bay to 5-3 and keeps the pressure on division-leading Minnesota ahead of their November rematch. Fail, and questions about line depth, rushing efficiency and late-game execution will only grow louder in Titletown. Prediction: Jacobs finally cracks 100 yards, Gary notches his first multi-sack night of 2026, and the Packers escape a feisty Panthers squad, 27-20.
