Who Is Lloyd Glasspool? British Doubles Star’s Rapid Rise, Latest Results & What’s Next
• Hot Trendy News
WIMBLEDON, London – Lloyd Glasspool has carved his name into the history books after joining fellow Briton Julian Cash in reaching the 2025 Wimbledon men’s doubles final, the first all-British pairing to do so since 1960. Riding a 13-match winning streak that began with their grass-court title in Halle last month, the unseeded duo dismissed fourth seeds Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos 6-3, 6-4 in Friday’s semi-final to electrify Centre Court and spark nationwide excitement.
A LANDMARK MOMENT FOR BRITISH DOUBLES
Glasspool, a 31-year-old from Birmingham, and Nottingham native Cash are the first home-grown team to play for the gentlemen’s doubles trophy at SW19 since Mike Davies and Bobby Wilson 65 years ago. Their run has revived memories of the “golden era” of British doubles and given the All England Club a feel-good storyline heading into finals weekend.
HOW THEY GOT HERE
• Round 1: def. Arneodo/Roger-Vasselin 7-6, 7-5
• Round 2: def. Koolhof/Mektic 6-4, 3-6, 6-3
• Quarter-final: def. Salisbury/Skupski 6-7, 7-6, 7-5
• Semi-final: def. Granollers/Zeballos 6-3, 6-4
THE FINAL SHOWDOWN
On Saturday the Britons face first alternates Rinky Hijikata of Australia and Dutchman David Pel, surprise finalists who entered the draw after a late withdrawal. Despite the ranking gap, Glasspool insists complacency is not an option: “We’ve treated every match like a final and we’ll do exactly the same tomorrow,” he said after sealing the semi.
FORM AND CONFIDENCE
Momentum is firmly with Cash/Glasspool. Since teaming up this spring they’ve compiled a 26-4 record and lifted the Terra Wortmann Open crown in Halle, their maiden ATP 500 title. The pair credit a simplified game plan built around Cash’s aggressive poaching and Glasspool’s heavy first serve. “We don’t over-complicate things,” Glasspool explained. “First-strike tennis and positive energy—that’s our DNA.”
WHAT’S AT STAKE
Victory would make Glasspool the first British man since Jonathan Marray (2012) to hoist the men’s doubles trophy and could propel him into the ATP top 10 for the first time. It would also secure the pair a place at November’s Nitto ATP Finals in Turin.

LOOKING AHEAD
Regardless of Saturday’s outcome, Lloyd Glasspool’s Wimbledon fortnight has already transformed his career profile and ignited fresh interest in British doubles tennis. With Paris 2024 silver medallists Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski already established, Glasspool’s surge adds depth to Team GB hopes ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. If he and Cash complete their fairy-tale run, British tennis will celebrate a new set of local heroes—and the rest of the tour will be on high alert for a partnership on the rise.
