Juke Harris Shocks Transfer Portal: 5-Star Guard Commits to Tennessee
• Hot Trendy News
Six-foot-seven scoring guard Juke Harris—last season’s ACC Breakout Player of the Year at Wake Forest—has officially pledged to Rick Barnes and the Tennessee Volunteers, choosing the Vols over fellow finalists Michigan and North Carolina just hours after wrapping up NBA Draft evaluations.
Harris averaged 21.4 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals while knocking down 87 triples as a sophomore, performances that vaulted him into every major transfer-portal ranking—No. 4 at On3, No. 8 at 247Sports and a five-star grade at EvanMiya. The Salisbury, N.C., native scored 20-plus in 20 games, highlighted by 30-point outbursts against NC State, Boston College and Cal, and posted an elite 17.6 percent defensive-rebound rate despite playing primarily on the wing.
For Tennessee, Harris immediately fills the shot-making void left by departed stars Ja’Kobi Gillespie and Nate Ament. His 6-7 frame and 44.4 percent field-goal clip give Barnes a position-less perimeter weapon who can play alongside transfer point guard Dai Dai Ames or operate as a jumbo initiator in small-ball lineups. Add in Harris’s sub-10 percent turnover rate and the Vols gain a high-usage scorer who protects possessions—an area where last year’s squad ranked just 79th nationally.
The commitment also cements Tennessee’s portal haul as one of the nation’s best. With Harris joining Jalen Haralson, Miles Rubin and sharpshooter Tyler Lundblade, the Vols now own four players ranked in the top-40 of the 2026 portal, pushing the class to a consensus top-two spot per multiple analytic services. Early projections place Tennessee in the preseason AP Top 10 and among the favorites to dethrone Kentucky in the SEC race.
Harris hinted at the move in a cinematic workout video captioned “The Phenomenon Has Arrived,” confirming he will bypass the 2026 NBA Draft to chase a conference title in Knoxville. Should the junior replicate last season’s efficiency while increasing his three-point accuracy (33.3 percent), he could join the short list of Volunteers to earn First-Team All-America honors and vault his draft stock into the lottery conversation next June.
