Joscelyn Roberson Stuns Gymnastics World: Watch the Viral Routine Putting Her on Team USA’s Olympic Radar
• Hot Trendy News
Fresh from a record-setting freshman season with the Arkansas Razorbacks, 19-year-old world champion Joscelyn Roberson is wasting no time pivoting back to elite gymnastics in pursuit of the 2025 World Championships. Speaking after the NCAA campaign ended, the 2024 U.S. Olympic alternate confirmed she will open her elite return at the U.S. Classic in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, on 18–19 July before aiming for full all-around status at the Xfinity U.S. Championships in August.
Return to elite stage
Roberson kept her marquee skills “at least once a week” during college training, allowing a quick ramp-up to two-a-day workouts this spring. Vault power is coming back more gradually, but her tumbling “feels like riding a bike,” she said, adding that the higher, 28-hour weekly load of elite training “is just so much fun”.
Lessons from an NCAA breakout
In 10 regular-season appearances for Arkansas, Roberson shattered the program’s freshman all-around record three times, collected 12 event or AA titles and finished the year ranked No. 25 nationally. Her 39.425 at nationals was the highest freshman score in school history, earning WCGA and NCAA All-America honors on beam. The weekly grind, travel and academics left “no free time,” but Roberson says thriving under that pressure rekindled her love for competition and rebuilt confidence lost after the ankle injury that sidelined her at the 2023 World Championships.
Coaching continuity in Fayetteville
Instead of returning to her former gym in Texas—now in flux after coaching changes—Roberson will stay in Fayetteville, training elite routines under Arkansas assistant coach and 2016 Olympian Chris Brooks. “I want to keep everything steady and see how this goes,” she explained, noting the familiarity of campus life should ease the NCAA-to-elite transition.
Eyes on Worlds, not yet LA 2028
The immediate goal is a spot on the U.S. team for the 2025 World Championships. While a home Olympics in Los Angeles is tempting, Roberson prefers a year-by-year approach: “Anything can happen—injuries, life changes—so I’m focused on 2025 first.” Even so, her power on floor and vault, newly polished collegiate beam, and world-title pedigree make her a leading contender as the U.S. program rebuilds toward 2028.
What’s next
• U.S. Classic, 18–19 July – target partial or full all-around debut
• Xfinity U.S. Championships, 7–10 August – aim for full difficulty across four events
• World Team Selection Camp – September (date TBA)
With a healthy ankle, renewed confidence and momentum from a standout college debut, Joscelyn Roberson’s comeback campaign is positioned to be one of the headline stories of the 2025 gymnastics season—on both the collegiate and world stages.
