Joey Bosa Injury Update: Chargers’ All-Pro Primed for Explosive Week 1 Return, Insider Reveals
• Hot Trendy News
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Joey Bosa’s fresh start with the Buffalo Bills is quickly becoming one of the biggest storylines of the young 2025 NFL season. Cut loose by the Los Angeles Chargers in March, the four-time Pro Bowler signed a one-year, $12.61 million prove-it deal with Buffalo and already looks like the destructive edge rusher who once terrorized AFC offenses.
Healthy for the first time in nearly three years, Bosa has logged 3.5 sacks, a forced fumble and nine QB pressures through two games. His quick first step has revived a Bills pass rush that struggled after Von Miller’s 2022 injury. Head coach Sean McDermott says the veteran’s impact goes beyond the stat sheet: “Joey’s energy is contagious. The way he practices has raised the standard for our entire defensive line.”
Buffalo’s front office is also reaping the long-term benefits of Bosa’s arrival. Opposite Gregory Rousseau, the 30-year-old commands double teams that free Ed Oliver on interior stunts, while his ability to kick inside on third down gives coordinator Leslie Frazier more exotic looks. The Bills rank top-three in sacks (9) and pressure rate (38%) heading into Week 3, a dramatic jump from last year’s middle-of-the-pack finish.
The Chargers, meanwhile, are under heavy scrutiny for releasing their former franchise cornerstone. New head coach Jim Harbaugh hoped to reset the roster’s salary structure, but early returns suggest Los Angeles badly miscalculated; the defense has recorded just one sack and owns the NFL’s worst third-down rate through two weeks. Fans are already wondering if the move could cost the Bolts a playoff berth.
In Orchard Park, the only concern is workload management. Bosa missed 17 games over the past two seasons, and the Bills admit they must “be really cognizant” of snap counts to keep him fresh for December and a likely postseason run. For now, though, he’s on pace for his best statistical campaign since 2021—and Buffalo’s Super Bowl window looks wider because of it.
Fantasy managers, take note: Bosa’s resurgence is turning Buffalo into one of the league’s premier DST plays. And if he maintains this level, the Bills will have to decide whether to extend him before free agency reopens in March. One thing is clear: Joey Bosa’s move to Western New York is quickly becoming the defining edge of the 2025 NFL season, and the rest of the AFC East is scrambling to find an answer.
