Jason Bateman Stuns Fans With Surprise New Series Announcement – Everything We Know So Far
• Hot Trendy News
Jason Bateman is heading back to Netflix this fall, and the streamer has finally circled a date on the calendar. Netflix announced that Black Rabbit, a six-episode limited series starring and executive-produced by Bateman alongside Jude Law, will premiere globally on September 18, 2025.
The dark thriller follows charismatic New York nightlife legend Jack Neel (Law) as he attempts a comeback while confronting secrets that threaten his family empire. Bateman steps in front of the camera as Neel’s enigmatic older brother, and he also directs the first two episodes—marking his first directing gig for Netflix since the Emmy-winning Ozark finale in 2022. First-look photos released with the date announcement show Bateman sporting longer hair and a noir-tinted wardrobe that hints the series will lean into the same tense morality-play atmosphere that made Ozark a binge favorite.
Black Rabbit reunites Bateman with Netflix at a moment when the platform is doubling down on prestige miniseries. The streamer is positioning the project as a “propulsive thrill ride,” and industry watchers expect it to anchor Netflix’s fall lineup just as Ozark once dominated spring release schedules. For Bateman, the role continues a pivot toward gritty material: earlier this year he wrapped Carry On, a high-stakes kidnapping film from producer Steven Spielberg, and he’s currently shooting an untitled HBO drama with Stranger Things star David Harbour in Atlanta’s Dunwoody Village.
Beyond Bateman’s return, Black Rabbit carries serious pedigree. The scripts come from Zach Baylin (King Richard) and Kate Susman; executive producers include Law, Bateman, Ben Stillman, Andrew Hinderaker, and veteran showrunner Michael Costigan. Principal photography took place in New York City this spring, with locations ranging from a rebuilt 1990s-era nightclub set in Brooklyn to boardrooms atop Midtown skyscrapers.
With Bateman’s Ozark fan base hungry for his next morally gray protagonist—and Jude Law adding marquee power—Black Rabbit is already generating social buzz. Netflix viewers who crave atmospheric crime drama have a date to circle: September 18. In the meantime, the streamer’s teaser images suggest that when the brothers Neel hit the dance-floor spotlight, the real danger might be lurking just beyond it.
