Jack Campbell Injury Update: Lions LB Carted Off vs. Vikings—Latest Status, Video & Reactions

Detroit Lions rookie linebacker Jack Campbell was immobilized on a backboard and carted off the field in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s road matchup with the Minnesota Vikings after a violent collision while making a tackle. The Ford Field crowd fell silent as medical personnel rushed to the 2023 first-round pick, stabilized his neck and loaded him onto a cart before he was transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation, according to multiple sideline reports. Early indications are that Campbell maintained movement in his extremities, but the Lions have yet to release an official diagnosis. Head coach Dan Campbell is expected to address the media following the game, and the team’s next injury report will offer more clarity on the 22-year-old’s status. Losing Jack Campbell for any length of time would be a major setback for a Detroit defense already missing veteran linebacker Alex Anzalone. Through the first seven games, Campbell had recorded 54 total tackles, four tackles for loss and a sack, rapidly establishing himself as a leader in coordinator Aaron Glenn’s front seven. If Campbell is sidelined, the Lions will likely elevate veteran Malcolm Rodriguez and lean on special-teamer Derrick Barnes in next week’s divisional showdown against the Chicago Bears. The team could also explore practice-squad elevations or free-agent options to bolster depth. Key takeaways • Jack Campbell carted off in Week 8 after neck injury vs. Vikings • Medical staff confirmed movement in limbs; official diagnosis pending • Potential depth chart shuffle: Malcolm Rodriguez, Derrick Barnes next up • Lions face Bears in Week 9; injury report expected Wednesday
