Indiana Football Stuns No. 4 Michigan in 31-30 Thriller, Hoosiers’ Playoff Hopes Ignite

Hoosiers Survive Homecoming Thriller Indiana football kept its undefeated season intact with a heart-stopping 23-16 overtime victory over Minnesota on Homecoming in Bloomington, a game that featured back-to-back 60-yard field goals in the final minute of regulation. The No. 4 Hoosiers improved to 7-0, while the Golden Gophers fell to 4-4. Record-Breaking Kicks With 42 seconds left, Minnesota’s Luke Drzewiecki drilled a 60-yard bomb to tie the score at 16. Not to be outdone, Indiana’s Nico Ramirez matched the distance on the ensuing possession, sending Memorial Stadium into a frenzy as his own 60-yarder knotted things at 19 and forced overtime. The pair of 60-yarders marked the first time in Big Ten history that opposing kickers hit from that distance in the same game. Defense Slams the Door After Minnesota was limited to a field goal on its overtime possession, Indiana leaned on dual-threat quarterback Josh Hoover, whose five-yard keeper powered across the goal line for the walk-off touchdown. The Hoosier defense held the Gophers to just 284 total yards, recording four sacks and an interception that halted a potential go-ahead drive late in the third quarter. Big Ten Title Picture At 4-0 in league play, Indiana remains atop the Big Ten East and controls its path to a conference-championship appearance. Saturday’s win also extends the program’s best start since 1945 and solidifies its placement inside the College Football Playoff top four when new rankings drop on Tuesday.
