Minesweeper 2025: How to Play the Free Online Reboot, Unlock Hidden Tricks & Crush World Records
• Hot Trendy News
India’s Ministry of Defence has reopened the long-stalled ₹44,000-crore program to build 12 indigenous mine counter-measure vessels (MCMVs), giving the Indian Navy its first dedicated minesweepers in more than a decade.
Why the sudden urgency
• Only two aging minesweepers remain in service after the retirement of 10 Soviet-era vessels, leaving critical ports such as Mumbai, Visakhapatnam and Kochi exposed to underwater mines.
• Chinese and Pakistani navies have expanded submarine patrols in the Indian Ocean, heightening the risk of mine warfare that can choke sea lanes and disrupt $200 billion worth of annual maritime trade.
What the new minesweepers will do
• Detect, classify and neutralise moored, drifting and bottom-influence mines using high-resolution sonars, expendable remotely operated vehicles and electromagnetic/acoustic sweep gear.
• Protect naval bases, commercial harbours and the vital Sea Lanes of Communication (SLOCs) from the Strait of Hormuz to the Malacca Strait.
• Operate alongside future Indian aircraft carriers and next-generation destroyers for blue-water mine-countermeasure support.
Key features under consideration
1. Low-magnetic composite hulls to evade magnetic mines.
2. Indigenous propulsion and power-generation packages aligned with the “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” self-reliance push.
3. On-board UAVs for rapid minefield mapping and data relay.
4. Integrated Combat Management System that networks with coastal surveillance radars and P-8I maritime patrol aircraft.
Industrial impact
The Defence Acquisition Council is expected to invite competitive bids from public and private Indian shipyards; Goa Shipyard Ltd and Larsen & Toubro are leading contenders. Each vessel could cost ₹3,500-3,800 crore, generating an estimated 15 million man-hours and creating supply-chain opportunities for 200+ MSMEs.
Global context
Japan just commissioned its fourth Awaji-class minesweeper JS Nōmi—another sign that Asia-Pacific navies are racing to counter the growing underwater mine threat.
Timeline
• Request for Proposals (RFP): Q4 2025
• Contract signing: late 2026
• First ship launch: 2029
• Full squadron delivery: 2034
Bottom line
Rearming with modern minesweepers closes a glaring gap in India’s maritime security architecture, safeguards critical shipping lanes and positions domestic shipbuilding as a global supplier of next-generation mine countermeasure technology.
