In-N-Out Burger Announces Surprise Coastal Expansion—Here’s What You Need to Know
• Hot Trendy News
In-N-Out Burger’s long-awaited leap east of Texas is finally here, and Tennessee is ground zero for the West Coast icon’s latest surge of expansion. Lines of cars wrapped around the block in Lebanon and Antioch this week as the very first Volunteer State restaurants fired up their grills at 10 a.m., drawing fans who camped out overnight for Double-Doubles and Animal-Style fries.
The Lebanon unit at 915 S. Hartmann Drive and the Antioch store at 4130 William Turner Parkway headline a multi-year rollout that will ultimately bring dozens of locations to Middle Tennessee. Corporate president Lynsi Snyder confirmed that a $125.5 million Eastern territory office and distribution center is already under construction in Franklin, providing the logistical backbone for future stores “in and around Nashville” by 2026.
Initial customer turnout suggests pent-up demand rivals the chain’s 2007 debut in Arizona; state troopers were dispatched to direct traffic as waits pushed past three hours at peak meal times. Local police in Antioch reported drive-thru queues spilling onto Murfreesboro Pike despite a dual-lane layout designed to process up to 200 cars per hour. Social media buzz amplified the frenzy: TikTok clips of the ribbon-cutting amassed more than 5 million views within 24 hours, while #InNOutTennessee trended regionally on X.
Economic developers are banking on more than social clout. The Franklin hub is expected to create 277 full-time jobs with an average wage of $67,000, according to the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development. Real-estate analysts say property values near announced sites in Madison, Murfreesboro and Gallatin have already jumped 8 % since the January site reveals.
Why Tennessee? Company executives cite a fast-growing population, robust interstate corridors and a regulatory climate that mirrors the business-friendly environments of its early California days. Nashville also serves as a launchpad for potential forays into neighboring states such as Kentucky, Alabama and Georgia, all within the 300-mile freshness radius of the incoming Franklin meat-processing facility.
For die-hard loyalists, the menu remains unchanged: fresh-never-frozen beef patties, hand-cut fries and secret-menu staples. What is new, however, is breakfast service—tested quietly at the Lebanon store from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. with a pared-down lineup of egg-topped sliders and hash-brown-style fries. If sales stay strong, breakfast could roll out chain-wide for the first time in In-N-Out’s 78-year history, according to store managers on site.
With record-shattering opening-day ticket counts, the California cult favorite appears poised to translate West Coast mystique into Southeastern staying power. For Tennesseans who once had to board a plane for a taste of a real Double-Double, the next drive-thru window may soon be just down the interstate.
