Heliot Ramos Smashes Two Home Runs in Giants’ Win—Stats, Video Highlights & Future Outlook
• Hot Trendy News
San Francisco—After more than six weeks on the sidelines with a right-quad strain, top outfield prospect Heliot Ramos has been activated from the 10-day injured list and is expected to rejoin the San Francisco Giants’ lineup this week.
The 26-year-old was injured May 15 while legging out an infield single and missed 37 games before completing a four-game rehab assignment at Triple-A Sacramento, where he went 6-for-15 with a homer and two stolen bases. Manager Bob Melvin said Ramos “checked every box” in his rehab and will “slot right back into the heart of the order” against division-rival Arizona.
Ramos was enjoying a breakout season before the setback, slashing .292/.354/.468 with eight home runs, 10 doubles and a 128 OPS+ across 173 plate appearances. His 1.8 fWAR still ranks third among Giants position players, highlighting just how productive he was in limited time. The right-handed hitter also improved his strike-zone discipline, trimming his chase rate to a career-low 24.6 percent.
The Giants desperately need Ramos’ power and athleticism as they push for a fourth straight postseason berth. Since his injury, San Francisco outfielders have combined for a .676 OPS—27th in MLB—and the club has slipped to third place in the NL West. Ramos’ return allows Melvin to deploy a more balanced lineup, likely pushing veteran Michael Conforto into a part-time role and giving the team a true center-field option in spacious Oracle Park.
Front-office sources indicated the Giants considered pursuing outfield help at the Trade Deadline but backed off once medical staff declared Ramos 100 percent, saving prospect capital for pitching upgrades. The decision underscores the organization’s confidence that the former first-round pick can anchor the outfield down the stretch.
Fantasy-baseball managers should act quickly: Ramos is available in roughly 65 percent of standard mixed leagues and offers a rare blend of speed and pop. In leagues that value on-base skills, his improved walk rate (8.7 percent) and spot near the top of a potent Giants lineup add extra appeal.
Looking ahead, the Giants plan to ease Ramos back with scheduled rest days, but if his rehab performance is any indication, it may not take long for him to reclaim everyday duties. A healthy Ramos alongside Kyle Harrison, Marco Luciano and Patrick Bailey gives San Francisco one of the most exciting young cores in baseball—and positions the club to make noise in October once again.
