Guardians vs White Sox: Live Score, Lineups & How to Stream Tonight’s AL Central Showdown

CLEVELAND — The Chicago White Sox edged the Cleveland Guardians 4-3 on Monday night to seize a 2-0 advantage in the American League Division Series, moving within one win of the franchise’s first ALCS appearance since 2005. A three-run sixth inning flipped the script at Progressive Field. After Miguel Vargas singled and Randal Grichuk walked, rookie right-fielder Braden Montgomery lashed a two-run double down the right-field line to give Chicago its first lead of the game; Chase Meidroth followed with an RBI single for a 4-2 cushion. Right-hander Sean Burke delivered 5⅓ dominant innings of one-hit relief, retiring 13 consecutive batters at one stretch and striking out six to earn the win. Closer Grant Taylor recorded the final four outs for his second straight save. Cleveland struck first when a throwing error allowed José Ramírez and Steven Kwan to score in the opening frame, and starter Gavin Williams fanned 11 over five-plus innings before tiring in the pivotal sixth. Jo Adell’s eighth-inning triple cut the deficit to one, but the Guardians stranded the tying run at third and went quietly in the ninth. The surprising South Siders—who suffered three consecutive 100-loss seasons from 2023-25—are now 4-0 this postseason, all on the road, and can clinch the best-of-five series Wednesday afternoon at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago. Probable starters for Game 3 are right-hander Cade Smith for Cleveland and veteran lefty Jordan Montgomery for Chicago. First pitch is scheduled for 2:10 p.m. ET on TBS, with truTV carrying the simulcast for cord-cutters.
