Looney Tunes Voice Actor Eric Bauza Dead at 46—Tributes Flood Social Media
• Hot Trendy News
Fans of classic animation are mourning the loss of Eric Bauza, the celebrated Canadian-Filipino voice actor who became the modern voice of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig and a host of other Looney Tunes icons. Bauza died on Sunday at his Los Angeles home from complications of hypertensive cardiovascular disease, his family confirmed. He was 46 years old.
Bauza’s career trajectory was as animated as the characters he portrayed. Born in Toronto in 1979, he got his start as a storyboard artist before landing bit parts on “Ren & Stimpy” and “The Fairly OddParents.” His breakthrough came in 2011 when Warner Bros. chose him to carry on Mel Blanc’s legacy as Bugs Bunny. Bauza quickly proved he could channel Blanc’s timeless cadence while adding fresh comedic nuance, earning an Emmy in 2022 for “Looney Tunes Cartoons”.
Over the past decade, Bauza voiced more than 400 roles across television, film and video games, from “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” to “Star Wars: The Bad Batch.” Yet it was his ability to swap seamlessly among the Looney Tunes roster—often within the same scene—that cemented his reputation in animation circles. “He was a vocal chameleon,” Warner Bros. Animation president Sam Register said in a statement, praising Bauza for “honoring the past while making these characters feel brand new for today’s audiences”.
Industry colleagues also credited Bauza’s approachability at fan conventions and on social media for sparking a Looney Tunes renaissance among Gen Z viewers. Clips of Bauza improvising rapid-fire dialogue in seven voices routinely went viral on TikTok and Instagram, boosting HBO Max streams of “Looney Tunes Cartoons” by double digits in 2024 and 2025, according to Parrot Analytics.
Bauza’s final project, “The Looney Tunes Movie,” wrapped voice recording in September and is slated for a 2027 theatrical release. Warner Bros. confirmed that Bauza completed all his lines and the film will be dedicated to his memory. Analysts expect a surge in demand for Looney Tunes merchandise and back-catalog titles as fans seek to honor the actor’s legacy.
Beyond the microphone, Bauza championed diversity in animation, mentoring emerging BIPOC voice talent through the non-profit organization Voice Forward. “He made room for the next wave of storytellers,” fellow voice actor Phil LaMarr noted in a tribute post.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced. Bauza is survived by his wife, producer Jane Kim, and their two young children.
Keyword-rich takeaway: Eric Bauza’s death leaves a void in the world of voice acting, but his unforgettable performances as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Porky Pig ensure his Looney Tunes legacy will continue to delight audiences for generations.
