Cubs Score Thriller: Chicago Rallies Late to Stun Rival 6-5
• Hot Trendy News
The Chicago Cubs erupted for an 11-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night, capping a statement series at Citizens Bank Park and sending “Cubs score” searches soaring across the baseball world.
Chicago’s offense pounded out 15 hits, highlighted by a three-run blast from Dansby Swanson and a bases-clearing double from Nico Hoerner, who finished with a career-high five RBIs. Hoerner’s outburst pushed the Cubs to 28 runs across the three-game set, their highest road series total since 2019.
On the mound, rookie left-hander Shōta Imanaga dazzled with 11 strikeouts over six innings, limiting Philadelphia to one early homer before retiring 14 of the next 16 batters. His pinpoint splitter and rising fastball generated 20 swinging strikes, lowering his ERA to 2.13 through four starts.
The win lifted Chicago to 7-9 and secured its first series triumph in Philadelphia since 2022. Manager Craig Counsell credited “aggressive at-bats early in counts” and Imanaga’s “calm attack mode” for the breakout performance.
Next up, the Cubs return to Wrigley Field for a weekend set against the Miami Marlins, aiming to keep the hot bats rolling and climb back toward .500 in the crowded NL Central race.
