CSUSB Trending Now: 5 Major Changes at California State University San Bernardino You Shouldn’t Miss
• Hot Trendy News
California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) is welcoming students back to campus with a wave of initiatives, recognitions and marquee events that underscore the institution’s growth heading into the fall 2025 term.
The headline announcement is Den2Den, a new housing partnership between San Bernardino Valley College and CSUSB designed to streamline the transfer pipeline while easing the region’s student-housing crunch. Beginning this semester, qualified Valley College students can live in CSUSB residence halls, lock in priority transfer advising and receive joint financial-aid support—an unprecedented move in the Inland Empire that administrators say will “remove a critical barrier to baccalaureate completion.”
Housing isn’t the only resource expansion. CSUSB has secured an $85,000 grant from Southern California Edison to bolster STEM outreach in underserved high schools across San Bernardino and Riverside counties. The funding will fuel mobile engineering labs, robotics workshops and weekend coding camps hosted by university faculty and student mentors.
Academically, the university is preparing for LEAD Summit XIV—the flagship Latino Education & Advocacy Days conference—set for Sept. 27 in the Santos Manuel Student Union. This year’s theme, “Visions of Us: Latino Representation in Arts, Media and Education,” will convene scholars, artists and policymakers to strategize on closing equity gaps from K-12 through graduate school. Organizers expect record attendance and a global livestream audience, positioning CSUSB as a national hub for Hispanic-serving research.
Faculty achievements are also in the spotlight. Public administration professor Bob Miller was recently named Outstanding Educator by the Inland Empire chapter of the American Society for Public Administration for his groundbreaking work on wildfire governance and community resilience. His recognition follows a trend: over the past year, CSUSB researchers have captured more than $38 million in external funding, the highest in campus history.
Student life is off to an energetic start. The annual Late-Night Welcome Bash on Aug. 28 promises more than 100 student-organization booths, live music and food-truck fare as the Class of 2029 gets its first taste of Coyote culture. Meanwhile, the university police department is warning the community about a QR-code scam found in unsolicited packages mailed to student apartments. Officials urge anyone who receives suspicious deliveries to report them immediately and avoid scanning unknown codes.
With new housing pathways, fresh research dollars and high-profile conferences, CSUSB is positioning itself as a leading force in California’s fastest-growing higher-education corridor. Prospective Coyotes can explore application deadlines, campus tours and financial-aid resources at csusb.edu, while current students are encouraged to download the MyCoyote app for real-time alerts and event schedules.
