Bo Bichette Trade Buzz Explodes: What a Blockbuster Move Could Mean for the Blue Jays and MLB
• Hot Trendy News
Toronto Blue Jays star shortstop Bo Bichette took a visible step forward in his rehab on Wednesday, lightly jogging across Yankee Stadium’s outfield just hours before ALDS Game 4 against New York. It was the first time the 27-year-old has been seen running since suffering a left-knee PCL sprain in a home-plate collision on Sept. 6, also at Yankee Stadium.
Manager John Schneider called the sight “good news,” noting that Bichette recently faced live velocity in a simulated game against teammates Max Scherzer and Chris Bassitt and took 14 swings without issue. Despite the progress, Bichette remains off the ALDS roster and is officially day-to-day; his availability hinges on Toronto clinching the series and advancing to the ALCS, which would open Oct. 12 at Rogers Centre if the Blue Jays finish off the Yankees.
Before the injury, Bichette was amid a career year, slashing .311/.357/.483 while leading MLB in hits and doubles through 139 games. Teammate Vladimir Guerrero Jr. said the club is hoping to “win this series and have him back for the next round,” underscoring Bichette’s importance to a lineup looking for October consistency.
Fantasy managers and Blue Jays fans alike should monitor Bichette’s daily running progression; if he tolerates increased intensity without setback, Toronto could regain its All-Star catalyst just as the postseason pressure spikes. For now, the club will continue to lean on defensive replacement Leo Jiménez at short and shuffle the batting order while eagerly awaiting the next Bichette injury update.
