Army Ten-Miler 2025 Registration Opens: New Course Map, Training Tips & Must-Know Deadlines
• Hot Trendy News
The Army Ten-Miler 2025 is still slated for Sunday, 12 October, with 35,000 runners expected to surge from the Pentagon, loop the National Mall, and finish back at the military headquarters. However, race organizers have warned that a looming federal government shutdown could force a last-minute cancellation; a final decision will be announced no later than 8 October, according to an Army Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) bulletin.
What’s driving the uncertainty
• Congress has until 11:59 p.m. ET on Saturday to approve a funding deal.
• If agencies shutter, the Pentagon grounds and key support staff would become unavailable, making it impossible to secure the 10-mile course that winds past Arlington Memorial Bridge, the Lincoln Memorial and the Capitol Reflecting Pool.
• Local outlets report the Army is drawing up parallel plans for full cancellation, a scaled-down elite race or a shift to the already-scheduled virtual option.
Registration and bib pickup
• General registration remains open at $99 plus fees for anyone aged 13+; the race historically sells out but still had bibs available as of 30 May update.
• Packet pickup and the ATM Expo are scheduled for 10–11 October at the D.C. Armory. If the in-person race is scrubbed, registrants will be automatically transferred to the virtual edition.
Road closures and Metro service
Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police plan to shut down Route 27, Independence Avenue, the 14th Street Bridge, and sections of Constitution Avenue from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday. Metrorail will open two hours early at 6 a.m., with Pentagon and Pentagon City stations recommended for runners.
Course and pace rules
• Participants must hold a 15-minute-per-mile pace and finish within 2 hours 30 minutes to earn an official result.
• Five water points, two medical stations and more than 900 volunteers line the loop.
• Wave starts begin at 7 a.m.; elite men and women launch together, followed by sequential corrals every five minutes.
Tips for runners in limbo
1. Watch @ArmyTenMiler on X and Facebook for the 8 October go/no-go announcement.
2. Book refundable lodging; many hotels near Crystal City are offering waiver codes if the race is canceled.
3. Download the ATM App 2025 for push alerts on bib numbers, shuttle buses and medal distribution.
4. Keep training: If the live race is off, the virtual window runs 12–19 October, and finishers still receive a medal and T-shirt shipped free worldwide.
Bottom line
With 72 hours to go, the 41st Annual Army Ten-Miler hangs in the balance. Whether runners toe the starting line in Arlington or log their miles remotely, the Army’s signature race remains a powerful fundraiser for Soldier and Family Programs—and one of fall’s most coveted 10-milers.
