AFG vs BAN Clash Today: Live Score, Highlights & Key Moments From the High-Stakes Showdown

Bangladesh’s top order made a statement of intent on the opening morning of the one-off Test against Afghanistan at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, racing to 56-0 in just 10.2 overs after captain Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and chose to bat first. Debutant opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim was the early aggressor, crunching five boundaries and a soaring six in his unbeaten 38 off 33 balls, while partner Shadman Islam anchored the other end on 13* from 30 deliveries. The left-hand duo dealt confidently with the new ball, blunting Yamin Ahmadzai (0-31) and Mohammad Saleem Safi (0-21) on a placid surface that already looks full of runs. This fixture, staged at a neutral venue because of ongoing logistical constraints, is the first Test meeting between the two nations since 2019 and offers both sides a crucial chance to climb the ICC World Test Championship standings. Bangladesh, fresh from a morale-boosting home campaign, are chasing a rare away victory to reinforce their recent red-ball resurgence, while Afghanistan are eager to translate their growing limited-overs reputation into the five-day format. Early signs favoured the Tigers: Tanzid’s clean footwork neutralised Afghanistan’s length-ball plans, and his lofted six over extra-cover sent an ominous message to the Afghan spinners waiting in the wings. With over 79 overs still left in the day, Bangladesh will target a first-innings total well north of 350 to dictate the pace of the match.
